Pearl Linux 3.0

User Manual

We will add to this manual as time permits however the
info above
should resolve any questions or issues you may
encounter during
your Pearl OS installation and setup phase.

Some Basic Application Tips

Resize Desktop Windows   If you are installing Pearl OS v 2.5 on a small laptop or netbook you most likely will run into an issue where you cannot resize your active window small enough to reach your window form fields at the bottom of the window. This is easily solved by your super (windows) key on your keyboard. Below see the super key is marked with a star. To move windows either above and beyond the top panel and the bottom dock while holding the super key hold down left click on your mouse while dragging the window where you want.

Pearl Tweak Tool  currently is simply just the Gnome Tweak Tool renamed for use in the Gnome Control Center ( System Settings). You may access this app from system settings the “Slingscold Search App” menu by left clicking on the bottom dock Pearl Logo or the top panel menu.

This tool is used to customize most of your desktop preferences. You can, change background wallpapers, change themes, fonts, startup prefs, etc. etc. You may also change wallpapers inside the system settings control panel by clicking on wallpapers. Also note Nautilus, the file manager, can also be used to change wallpapers as well by right clicking on a graphic image.

Conky Manager    by default does not autoload on startup. To activate the conky settings like our screenshot setup enable our default setting which includes time, date, HD stats, CPU stats, RAM stats, and IP address. See sample below.

Open the Conky Manager inside the System Settings Control Center. Check and highlight the widget as shown below from the initial screen that loads with this manager. Feel free to experiment around with this manager and make your own widget or theme easily. The Conky Manager comes with a few samples you may prefer over our default.
